Load shedding backupSolar, inverter & battery installation

Keep the lights, Wi-Fi, TV and security running through load shedding. We size inverter and battery systems to what you actually need to run, add solar panels if you want them, and wire everything safely into your DB board.

Done by an electrician

Backup power and solar from a qualified electrician

An inverter connects to your DB board and your home’s wiring, so the installation should be done by an electrician who looks at the whole system, not just the box on the wall. Before we recommend anything, we list the appliances you want to keep running and for how long. That decides the size of the inverter and batteries, and whether solar panels make sense for you.

  • Inverter and battery backup for load shedding
  • Solar panels to charge the batteries and cut daytime usage
  • Essential circuits split at the DB board
  • Batteries or panels added to an existing system
  • Inverter systems that trip or won’t switch over

System sizes

Typical backup and solar systems

Every home is different, so treat these as starting points. We confirm the right size after looking at what you want to run.

Battery backup

A 5 kW inverter with a 5 kWh battery. Ideal for load shedding backup, and can be expanded into a solar system later.

Solar starter

A 5 kW inverter, 5 kWh battery and about 4.5 kW of solar panels, for an average home that wants to save on electricity and keep backup power.

Complete solar

An 8 kW inverter, 10 kWh of batteries and about 7.5 kW of panels, able to take an average home almost entirely off the grid during the day.

Large home or office

A 16 kW inverter, 20 kWh of batteries and about 14 kW of panels, for big homes, offices and off-grid setups.

What we install

What goes into a backup system

Inverters

Hybrid inverters that switch over automatically when the power goes off.

Batteries

Battery storage sized for how long you need backup to last.

Solar panels

Roof-mounted panels to charge the batteries and run daytime loads.

DB board changeover

Essential circuits wired so the inverter powers what matters and leaves the rest.

Surge protection

Protection at the board for the inverter and your appliances.

Upgrades

More batteries or panels added to an existing system.

How it works

How an installation works

  1. Tell us what to run

Lights, plugs, Wi-Fi, TV, fridge, gate, alarm: we list what must keep working and for how long.

  2. We look at the house

We check your DB board, where the inverter and batteries can go and, for solar, the roof.

  3. Choose the right system

We explain the options and recommend the system that fits your home and what you want to keep running.

  4. Installed and tested

Installed neatly, wired safely to your DB board, tested and explained to you.

Solar and backup FAQs

Can’t see your question? Call 012 383 2011 and ask the electrician directly.

What size inverter do I need?

It depends on what you want to run and for how long. We list your essential appliances, then size the inverter and batteries to match.

Will a backup system run my geyser and stove?

Usually not on a typical home backup system. Geysers, stoves and ovens draw a lot of power, so we normally keep them off the inverter and put lights, plugs, Wi-Fi and the TV on it.

Can I add solar panels or batteries later?

Often, yes, depending on the inverter you choose. Tell us if you plan to expand and we size the system with that in mind.

Why does my DB board trip since the inverter was installed?

It can point to a wiring or earthing problem in the changeover, or an overloaded inverter. We test the installation to find the cause.

Do you install backup power in Centurion?

Yes. We install inverters, batteries and solar panels across Pretoria and Centurion.
