Wierdapark homes and their electrics
Wierdapark grew out of urban smallholdings on the western side of Centurion in the 1970s. The smallholdings were divided into large stands of roughly 1,000 to 1,500 m², so most homes are freestanding family houses with established gardens, and many have a pool, a granny flat or an outbuilding. The suburb is named after Sytze Wierda, the chief architect of the old Transvaal Republic.

Garden lights, pool pumps, gate motors and granny flats are usually supplied by underground cables from the main house, and when one of those cables is damaged or a joint gets wet, the earth leakage trips, often after rain.
